But more importantly, we serve people.

Last year, around June, a customer came in needing two tyres. They were not expensive tyres — $100 each, $200 in total. But at the time, he simply couldn’t afford to pay.

He was honest. He was struggling.

I made a decision in that moment. I let him go without payment. I didn’t write it down. I didn’t chase him. In my heart, I treated it as a small donation — because sometimes helping someone stay safe on the road matters more than a receipt.

To be honest, over the years we’ve had more than 10 similar situations. People going through tough times. We’ve helped where we could. We never made a big deal about it.

Yesterday, something unexpected happened.

That same customer came back.

He said, “I owe you $200 from last year.”

I didn’t even remember.

He told me it was for two tyres. Then he said he wanted to repay $250 — because we helped him when he really needed it. But right now, he only had $100. He promised to return with the rest.

It wasn’t about the money.

It was about integrity.

It was about gratitude.

It was about trust.

This is the first time someone has come back to repay something like this.

And honestly, it moved me.

Running a small business isn’t just about sales numbers. It’s about community. It’s about helping when you can. It’s about believing that kindness isn’t lost.

Sometimes it comes back when you least expect it.
