Understanding Your Rights When Buying Non-SRAU Imported Falken Tyres

Not all Falken tyres are created equal — at least not when it comes to where (and how) they’re imported. Here’s what you need to know to make sure your purchase is backed by the proper manufacturer support.

Who Is the Official Importer?

Sumitomo Rubber Australia (SRAU) is the only company authorised by Sumitomo Rubber Industries to import Falken-branded tyres into Australia.
If your Falken tyres are purchased through an authorised dealer supplied by SRAU, you’re covered by our official Manufacturer’s Warranty Program — offering genuine protection and support.

What Happens with Unauthorised Imports?

If you purchase Falken tyres from an unauthorised importer, those tyres are not backed by SRAU.
This means you may miss out on warranty coverage and after-sales support provided under our Manufacturer’s Warranty Program.

What the ACCC Says About Parallel Imports

According to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC):

“If something goes wrong with your product, your consumer guarantee rights will apply. The seller will be responsible for providing you with a remedy, such as a repair, replacement or refund, within a reasonable time if there is a fault.
You can contact the Australian manufacturer of the product, but it may refuse to provide you with a remedy if it did not give permission to the seller to sell the product in Australia.”
